About the Holding
Charis Garden is a seasonal market garden, spread over about 1 acre, providing produce to the local community through a veg box scheme. There is a ‘Veg Shed’ on site which serves as a collection point for the box customers and also acts as a mini honesty box farm shop. Jeremy and Claire sell surplus veg here as well as home baking and handmade soap and honeycomb from their beehives.
Charis Garden is also a community garden in the making. The vision is threefold: Soil, Soul, and Solace. At Charis Garden they aim to nurture the soil and grow healthy food. They also want to provide space for people to grow and discover their connection to the world around them. Thirdly, they want their garden to be a place of aesthetic beauty, where rest and refuge can be enjoyed.
The Garden began a couple of years ago when Jeremy and Claire began to reclaim some overgrown land on Claire’s family farm. There are lots of creative projects underway at the moment as they breathe new life into an old walled garden, begin our own flock of hens, and continue with the day-to-day work of growing veg in their market garden.
A Social Farming Day

- Baking and making – brown bread, cakes, jams, pesto, and chutneys
Local Interests
There is a local market every Friday afternoon in Stradbally, that Claire and Jeremy like to go to.
